DGX 620 MIDI DRIVER

All times are GMT I've noticed that when I insert a soft synth into a project it creates 2 tracks. If that is their reasoning I would say they need to wake up and stop assuming what their customers needs are. Any hints gladly taken. Can you offer some clarification, or point me to a resource that explains what you mean? Thanks FBB for that very helpful explanation of the signal chain.

Basic MIDI Question (aka MIDI Mental Midget Meets His Match)

Send a private message to Barksy. If you need proper midi ports then look to Roland or Korg and if you then "need" that Yamaha sound buy a Motif ES rack and plug that in to your midi ports. Even though things are working ok now, I know I've still got a lot to learn about this stuff. Brundlefly, I'm intrigued by your statement: It might be possible someone with a knowledge of electronics could modify it in some way but I'm pretty midk we would have heard about it if someone had.

I've got the drums on TTS channel 10, the bass on channel 1, and I'm trying to record the electric piano on channel 2. The "to host" USB connector goes into a USB port of your computer not the interfacethe other "to device" connector is for a thumbdrive to store internal data etc. After a bit of testing - for the Yamaha DGX - It seems, that it only responds to bank 1 - however chaning the PGM allowed me to select some of the voices on my Epiano.

I suppose one of these 2 tracks is the audio track you're referring to. Controller Keyboards, Midi gear, software etc.

It's designed to convert a midi signal to usb not usb to midi. Consulting the manual I was able to identify a List featuring the Bank, Subbank and Porgram settings required to get all the voices on my Epiano! Hope that mii sense or someone comes along and explains it better Now I know why they call it AudioSnap.

It is good practice to get used to making the assignments manually as you'll learn more about how MIDI data gets converted to audio. But I do know that Live only sends one program change at the beginning of the clip. If you start copying clips around that miri all recorded as channel 1, you can get screwy results.
